The Face Mask That Saved My Life (and Skin)

For many years I've struggled with my skin. I went through phases of extreme breakouts, dryness and excessive oil buildup. I've spent countless hours poking and prodding at my skin in front of the mirror throughout my teenage years and had my fair share of frustrated breakdowns in college. I used practically every skin care product on the market and failed to see any noticeable results. Just when I thought all hope was lost, I was suddenly introduced to a product that has been a longtime favorite within the beauty industry: Aztec Secret's Healing Indian Clay. The name speaks for itself... it feels like this product magically came into my life right when I needed it.

I remember being first introduced to this amazing product a few months ago when I was on a FaceTime call with a close friend. In the middle of our conversation, I noticed her applying a sage-colored face mask as we talked to each other. I distinctly remember asking her how it felt on her skin and whether or not she thought it made a difference. She believed in it so much that she convinced me to buy a jar for myself and insisted that my "skin would thank me later". I hopped onto Amazon right that minute and bought myself a jar of this magical product.

When you buy a jar of Aztec Secret's Indian Healing Clay, you will notice that the product comes in powder form. That's because the bentonite clay, which is the main ingredient of the face mask, is sun-dried for up to six months before it is packaged and sold online and in-stores. In order to create your mask mixture, Aztec Secret instructs that you add water or apple cider vinegar to the powder to create a smooth paste that you can easily apply and spread all over your face. If you have sensitive skin, mixing the clay powder with water would probably be less harsh on delicate areas. If you have combination or oily skin like me, however, then you're better off mixing the powder with apple cider vinegar to help clear your skin.

According to the Aztec Secret website, the directions to create and use this clay face mask are fairly simple:

  • Mix Indian Healing clay with equal parts of apple cider vinegar or water into a small bowl

  • Stir the mixture until it is a smooth paste

  • Apply a 1/4 inch thick layer of the clay mask to your face

  • Allow to dry for 5-15 minutes (depending on skin type) before washing off with warm water

I've been using this mask for five months and I can wholeheartedly say that no other skincare product has been as life-changing as this one. My skin care journey hasn't been an easy one, but Aztec Secret's Indian Healing Clay has changed the texture and appearance of my skin for the better and my complexion is glowing like never before! I feel more confident on the days that I choose to wear less makeup and close friends and family can attest to my skin's progress.

My goal is to improve the quality of my skin so that I can feel and look my best even on days that I don't have time to apply makeup. Using the clay has definitely accelerated my progression towards this personal goal of mine and I highly recommend this product to anyone who is looking to improve the quality of their skin.
